Noticing that Oct is 'Natnl Breast Cancer Awareness Month', I thought it would
be good to see some public service announcements about BF & breast cancer risk
reduction. I have learned that all the special recognition months/weeks/days
are sponsored by some (usually non-profit) organization. Only a few are
officially 'declared' by the President or a state governor.

Directing my question specifically to the attys and the ILCA Board, and
generally to all of you on the 'Net:
1) would we be stepping on anyone's toes by using the stated name of the special
month or week or day in a PSA,
2) would it be best or necessary to contact the sponsor for permission,
3) is contact necessary if the month/week/day was officially 'declared' by a
political authority,
4) does the answer change if the PSA covers the general topic without mentioning
the official month,week,day,
5) does the answer change if the PSA is released by
        a) the local ILCA affiliate under the affiliate's name only,
        b) a group LCs identifying themselves as prvt prac without any reference
to the affiliate (although that might not be possible since a PSA, by
definition, is an announcement by a non-profit org.)
What I am looking for is a way to get a positive message out to the public on a
regular basis, on the theme of "Did you know...?" or "For your
information...", and ending with a statement to contact (affiliate group name),
or any Board Certified Lactation Consultant, for more information.

The possibilities are endless: Natnl Business Women's Week, Natnl Feminine
Empowerment Month, Healthy Weight Week, Natnl Women's History Month, Campaign
for Healthier Babies Month, Childhood Cancer Month, Natnl Childrens Dental
Health Month, Natnl SIDS Awareness Month, Natnl Infant Immunization Week, Natnl
Allergy-Asthma Awareness Month....etc....and Natnl Dairy Month.

Thanks, all
