Not sure from Gretchen's description, but could these be "extra
breasts"?  It sounds like they are on the embryonic milk line.  I
have seen several moms with these-some have supernumary nipples with
them while many do not.  Basically, she treats them just like
breasts that aren't going to be nursing either because mom chooses
not to nurse or winds up nursing one sided for some reason..  When
the milk is not removed, they "dry up" even though the normal
breasts can go on producing and delivering milk to baby.
