If she'd phoned me (a lay counsellor like you, Jane), I'd suggest she get
this baby checked out by a bf-friendly GP and possibly a paed...and
straight away, too.

Hard stools and anal/rectal bleeding are *not* normal in any baby, and
certainly not in a fully bf baby.
