A near disaster occurred with the Torticollis baby with crooked mouth and
tongue last week, where she began gurgling and gagging, turned, red, purple,
then blue waiting for a 911 response. She was revived, pediatrician called it
Reflux. Pediatric Dysphasia specialist ordered swallow study which revealed
that she is aspirating when she drinks. When milk was thickened, she did not
aspirate. So, mother is to bottle feed breastmilk thickened with rice
cereal that she pulverizes into flour and adds to breastmilk as available, formula
when not. She is also seeing a neurologist next. My question to you is --
is rice cereal the only way to do this, or is there a better substance to
use? Thanks, Ann
