Peanuts are not nuts, so is she talking about introducing peanuts or nuts
into her diet? I am unable to read every Lactnet so I may be missing
something here, but I am an expert of sorts on peanut allergy. The mother
should NOT introduce peanuts into her diet now if the baby's dad is
allergic. It can and often does go through the milk, and may cause
anything from excema to stuffiness in the totally breastfed baby. It will
not de-sensitize the baby if he does turn out to be allergic. And any
child with a close relative allergic to peanuts needs to avoid them until
at least 3 years of age.

Mother of a child with an incredible peanut allergy-you wouldn't believe
how sensative some of these children are!!
