As far as I can tell, if we follow the new SoP section 
about "Contradicting or ignoring the advice of a client's health care 
provider," we could very likely place ourselves in direct violation of our 
Code of Ethics. Particularly these sections:

 7. Base her/his practice on scientific principles, current research, and 
information.

8. Take responsibility and accept accountability for personal competence 
in practice.

11. Provide sufficient information to enable clients to make informed 
decisions.

24. IBCLCs must adhere to those provisions of the International Code of 
Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes which pertain to health care workers.

There could be more conflicts, but these four jumped out at me with a 
quick glance. I think IBLCE should be reminded that our Code of Ethics is, 
as is the ethics code for all professions, the bottom line.
