Today one of the other WIC nurses was showing me something from her copy
of the Monday Morning Report that routinely comes from the National
Association of WIC Directors. Across the bottom was a line that stated
the newsletter is produced with the support of Mead Johnson Nutritional
Products ie formula.
I was stunned that WIC would allow this. In this era of trying to
support healthy and normal infant feeding, trying to encourage baby
friendly policies that WIC is still accepting money for this kind of
thing.
I think that this is most likely a violation of the WHO Code. I sent
this email to the state WIC breastfeeding coordinator but wondered if
there was any other followup I could do.
