At our local Target store there is a sign in the bathroom that reads:
"If you desire a comfortable place to nurse your baby, a chair has
been provided in the dressing room area." The sign used to read:
"Breastfeeding mothers can feed their babies in our dressing rooms."
I spoke with the manager and explained why the wording was all wrong
and he gladly changed it. Target stores across the country have
signs like these in their bathrooms to let nursing moms know that
they don't have to nurse their babies in the bathroom.

I felt that the old sign was too directive and that the new sign
implied that breastfeeding was welcome anywhere in their stores but
if you wanted a quiet place to go nurse there was one available.

I'm still very wishy washy about the whole Target "incident" I think
that they were *trying* to present a balanced article without
stepping on too many toes, but didn't realize that they would offend
the breastfeeding community. I think they will reconsider how this
information is approached in the future. Although it would be our
wish that there wasn't such an article as "Advantages of
Bottlefeeding" I do think that an article can be written to give
information about bottlefeeding without making it look like you were
picking the decor for you baby's room.
