I wrote a week ago about a patient with deep breast pain. I wanted to
thank everyone who responded to me privately. I discussed the case with
her primary care physician (not the OB service who had been following
her) and he was very receptive to all the advice...from deep walled off
abcess to ductal yeast. Her exam concerned him and he ordered an
ultrasound and ruled out the breast abcess and then placed her on
Diflucan last Friday. She came to see me today a new person. She went
from dreading the next feeding to wanting to see me to help her wean the
baby off the nipple shield this week (and smiling a lot!!!). Yeast does
rear its ugly head in unusual ways. Thanks again to all. --Judy
