Hi, everyone:

I received this from a Chicago area doula who is seeking help/information for her friend in Boston. I have permission to post:

Extremely suspicious lump in her breast and will need a surgical biopsy in the
next three-ish weeks. She is still breastfeeding her almost 21-month old
daughter (a lot!) and the possibility of having to suddenly wean is devastating.
Fortunately the surgeon and some other docs seem to be quite supportive of her
continuing to bf her daughter. Angel's biggest concern right now is the
possibility of a breast milk fistula. Do you have info on this? How to best
avoid? How to treat if it happen. Anything else to look into, either along the
lines of a fistula or other complications with a surgical biopsy? Thank you so
much for any info you can pass on or any direction you can nudge me in. BTW,
Angel is located in Boston if you happen to have any outstanding contacts in the
area.

Please e-mail me off-list at [log in to unmask] if you know of or are a possible resource for this mom.

Thanks!

Peggy
