Oh, but you see, she DIDN'T know what she was getting into.  Nor did
most of us when we were first pregnant.  That's why we had terrible
birth experiences and in some cases weaned prematurely.  That's why we
made stupid commitments to our bosses to return to work right away. No
one, it seems, could tell us just how much time a baby takes, how much
adjustment our marrige would undergo, or HOW MUCH WE WOULD LOVE OUR
CHILD.

No, it's the baby who pays.

Seems to me the place to head off this sort of sad situation is in high
school and college classrooms (if not in primary school) BUT, telling a
young woman that she might want to think hard about how she would
realistically work and give her baby OPTIMAL care simultaneously is just
not Politically Correct.  Women are still being told they can have it
all, all at once.  No one mentions the baby.
