It just came to my attention, courtesy of the April 1997 issue of
Westways magazine (from the Automobile Club of Southern California) that
there is interesting statuary in and around our state capitol building
in Sacramento. Specifically, on the outside up on the roof, there is a
statue of woman warrior nursing a baby while riding a horse!! There is a
small photo of this statue on page 18. See what breast-feeding mothers
can do..?!! (Actually, this may be in homage to our French compatriots,
as I believe during the French Revolution, the struggle of France for
democracy was often depicted in art as a woman warrior
breast-feeding...)
