Hi all, couldn't resist sending this reply from my stepfather (mum married
again
after being widowed 10 years, at age 68) re his washing practices:

It is better not to wash the cows teats,if they are clean,If you wash them
and you would
be really serious ,you would have to dry them, then with a rag you could
carry infections
from one cow to an other,or from one teat to an other. If I have to wash
them,I like to make
sure that at least no drops are on the teat.Of course washing also
stimulates the letdown,
so on certain cows I wash the teats for that purpose. We use warm water out
of a hose,
it is always clean, and there is plenty of it(,Bloodtemp)

So I have to agree with the no wash policy, and yes! lets stop the
antibacterial soap bit - germs are sometimes healthy!
