I delivered my annual lecture on Human Milk and Human Health to second
year medical students yesterday and mentioned to them that when my
daughter was an infant and had conjunctivitis our family physician
advised that I drop breast milk in her eye twice a day. Of course my
milk cleared up the infection beautifully and very quickly.

The students were extremely intrigued and are now asking if I know of
any medical journal articles about this very topic: using human milk to
heal eye, ear, or skin infections, and burns. Can any of you provide
some citations?

Funny how the most interesting aspect of human milk and breastfeeding
for medical students is the medicinal aspect. But I've learned to get
them interested in breastfeeding in any way I can.

Many thanks for your help.
