On a similar note, we had Dad and Maternal Grandmother bring baby in to the first newborn Peds checkup - and they had breastfeeding questions.
They did as they were asked: come back tomorrow - with mother!
Travel was not an issue with her. She was recovering well from a vag birth.
That's when I saw them (Mom & Dad, w/o MGM). Mom did not speak English but Dad was doing well in his immersion learning, so he translated between Mom and me.
When Mom hand expressed and Dad saw what he thought was one drop of milk, he asked in all seriousness: "She have only one opening. Can we put another hole in there?"
So I said, "Let me draw a picture for you..." indicating milk from tiny ducts blend to form what seems like one big drop.
Then I pointed out to Dad & Mom how well baby was swallowing, once babe latched well.
Both were smiling and thanking me when they left.

Some years back I did have a mom show up for a first consult without her newborn!  She had latch issues and sore nipples but it just didn't occur to her to bring her nursing partner.  For a long time afterward I would say to moms, "Now be sure to bring your baby!" and they would laugh.

Today a sweet father asked if they needed to bring the baby in on Monday for their f/u Breastfeeding Clinic visit.  I smiled and said, 'If you don't, you'll need to go home to get her.'
