  REGARDING Book Reviewers for JHL

Dear Lactnetters,

After a long period of professional unemployment and of silence Lactnet-wise,
I am back lurking and requesting your assistance once more in reviewing books
for the Journal of Human Lactation. The purpose of the reviews is to give a
fair evaluation of the books, giving praise when deserved and mentioning
limitations when present. I provide the book which is yours to keep after the
review process is over. This said, here are two books to be reviewed by
February 28. When replying, please indicate your experience and/or credentials
related to the subject of the book, as well as your snail mail address, your
home telephone number and a time in the evening when I can call you to discuss
details before I send you the book.

1. The Anthropology of Breast-feeding: Natural Law or Social Construct, by
Elizabeth Maher.
200 pages. Full review, 350 words maximum. I need a reviewer with a PhD in
Anthropology for this one. If you known a non-Lactnetter who would be
interested, please let her know of this special need I have.

2. The VBAC Companion: The Expectant Mother's Guide to Vaginal Birth After
Cesarean, by Diana Korte, co-author of A Good Birth, A Safe Birth. 240 pages.
Full review.

3. Nursing Mothers at Work, by Naomi Bar-Yam. PhD dissertation, 194 pages.
Full review.

Many thanks for your past support and for your constant interest in book
reviews. I wish you a successful 1998 and am looking forward to hearing from
you.

Best regards,

Nicole Bernshaw, IBCLC
Book Review Editor
