Re: poetry compilation: If the compilation of poetry is only of netters'
original works, disregard this post. If it may include previously published
poems, there are copyright issues that generally require permission for
reprinting. Sometimes this may be with an author, sometimes with the
publication in which it was printed, and sometimes with both. Deanne, I'd
suggest you not only ask for the author's name, ask where it was previously
published and whether permission to reprint has been given. Someone may want
to adapt a release form that may be used for this purpose. (How it is to be
used often makes a difference whether that permission is freely given or
"bought.")

Hate to be a poetry party pooper, but this copyright stuff can get
well-intentioned persons in deep doo-doo. (At least I didn't mix metaphors
here!)

Mary R, re: Versed: << Seems it would be reasonable to use guidelines similar
to those for general anesthesia - if the mom's awake and aware, the drug has
substantially cleared her system. >>

I'm pretty sure I specifically asked Dr. Hale about this when he was in Cincy
a couple of years ago, and he said it ain't always true--unfortunately. Drugs
may not always clear in an infant as they do in the mother.

Re: info in Hale's new book: << I was reading about the treatment options for
mastitis and noticed the recomendation that moms don't wear a bra the first
week
postpartum when the risk of milk stasis and subsequently mastitis is highest.
>>

I love Dr. Hale, but with all due respect he's never had to actually deal
with heavy, aching, leaking postpartum breasts! Believe it or not, many moms
are a lot more comfortable wearing a bra. Wearing a bra may not always be an
option--what kind of bra and whether it constricts breast tissue usually
is... (Some of the newer ones in the exhibit areas of the LLLI and ILCA
conferences this year looked like they offer the best of all worlds--support
without tissue constriction.)

Jan A, re: the working and bfg nurse in Washington state: <<The director has
told the mother she can not breastfeed her baby at work .The director is the
only one who has had any complaints. The mother is wondering if the director
has any legal right to make her stop breastfeeding at work? >>

Isn't this the state that netters were discussing re: new laws protecting
breastfeeding in public. Can't mothers in the state of Washington now get a
button to that effect? If so, the director may need to be gently educated
about the change in law!
