>> What per se causes a recurrent nipple bleb in the same spot? I have read
about lecithin to help in thinning something (can't remember what it is),
but what can I tell a client to help her solve a recurrent bleb? She doesn't
want it to turn into mastitis one day, and either do I.<<

Heather,
It depends upon what kind of bleb it is. There is the solid plug, or the
nipple blister, or the "callous" white bleb. With the type that has a
blister-like covering, that needs to be peeled off, and then I recommend a
little polysporin or bactroban applied a few times a day after feeds (and
any residue wiped off before the next, of course). I had a friend who went
through a cycle of blebs and mastitis. She'd get it cleared up and then it
would start all over again. Once we added the ointment to her routine of
things to keep the area clear, she had only one more bout, and then they
finally stopped.
