Thanks Joanna. Your comments are helpful.

I wonder about watching how much milk the baby can get into the dome part
also. The two babies I worked with - one could get plenty of milk into the
dome and easily feed. The other got a little bit of milk out but still did
alright and got her meal in a timely manner. I let the parents know that I
had zero experience with the bottle but in theory I felt that it was
possible that the more milk baby #2 could get into the dome the better her
suck abilities were getting and that may very well transfer over to her
ability to get milk directly from the breast. Any thoughts on this theory??

Jaye

Hi Jaye -
Am using this bottle increasingly with same results you are finding. Baby
must latch on as at breast (not nibble on end) in order to "milk" the
bottle. Nothing is a breast of course, but this bottle can buy time till
problem at breast resolved. Am careful to follow up with those parents who
plan to try it as a few babes cannot get the milk out. Don't know if parent
error or what. Certainly not good bottle for sga or near-term births, my
experience.
Cheers,
Joanna Koch IBCLC
