My hospital always pays for any conferences (and resulting CEU's,
CERPS,etc.) and they paid for my initial IBCLC exam. I highly doubt, however,
that they would pay for my exam when I have to recertify. It would be at that
point that I would think about whether it was worth it for me to retest. Lke
many otrhers, I think the exam is just a money maker for the organization.

Someone mentioned that other organizations do not retest but use continuing
education. Personally, I think anyone who has passed the test once gains far
more by going to conferences, etc., and gathering CEU's and CERPS,etc.

Maybe with all the hullabaloo over this whole issue, the IBLCE would listen if
there were enough requests to restructure the re-certification process.
