Kathy, I had a patient in our NICU who had horrible yeast. She had been on
triple antibiotics for several weeks--septic shock from chorio. She had
delivered 24 week twins who were also very sick and began with yeast about
4-5 weeks postpartum. We tried all the usual treatments includin gentian
violet. She came back when the boys were one year old(her breastmilk is what
got them out of the NICU alive!!) and she said she STILL had traces of yeast
on her nipples, but it was going away gradually. Wonder if it has something
to do with a stronger immune system as she recovered a year later......Good
luck. Maureen Allen RN, BSN, IBCLC
