Sharon, I agree with Denny, first take care of the mom, the caregiver. If she
is in need , so will her babe be in need. Bipolar Disorder, if that is what
she has, is tough to deal with. I did my nurse training at Umass Medical in
Worcester, a very progressive psych facility. I focused my training in
Bipolar disorder,as it is more prevalent in society then one would think and
I have personal experience with it. The anxiety you describe can be a part of
the Bipolar , hypomanic phase, and it can easily be transmitted to those who
are psychically aware/vulnerable, such as are babes Maybe possibly explaining
some of the babes rigidity, in addition to the autism. People with Bipolar
are usually highly intelligent and creative individuals who use the Bipolar
to become very successful in life, so they are not that easily persuaded to
give up their highs...There is homeopathic treatment for Bipolar that is very
effective , as we know Lithium cannot be safely used in Nursing mom's. But
the mom needs to see someone knowledegable about this asap, as there is no
true good judgement while in a hypomanic (up) phase. The sky is the limit for
these phases and the line between reality and fanatical thinking blurs. Lisa
