I think these are the children who most benefit from breastfeeding. Any
doctor in the country would diagnose at least a few of mine with ADHD
(my family doctor nodded when I said this) but we decline to ask. I just
keep telling myself that these children are the ones that taught us the
most about parenting. Before they were weaned (baby no. 7 is really
laid-back) I tried to remind myself that, hard as it might have been
some days (o.k., I really mean nights, because these were the ones who
didn't go right back to sleep after nursing) whatever was good about
breastfeeding counted twice as much in their case. So I guess, even if
it is for a shorter time, it all works out.
