Our hospital has an e-health type website which is on a trial set-up at the
moment. They took 20 dept heads and set up forums for each specialty. At
the original meeting, I asked about our control over ads in the site and if
I could request or refuse certain ads? At first they didn't understand my
concern, but when I explained and compared having ABM ads in a breastfeeding
forum
to cigarette ads in the cancer forum, there was a moment of silence and I
waited for the accusations of "fanatic"....the business guys seemed to
understand better than the docs.
Since that meeting last March, the breastfeeding site has had the most hits
and is the most desirable site for advertising and I have full power to
decide who will be allowed to advertise and who will not. They know that.
Today's banners are a natural food store and a cell phone company.....I keep
checking.
