To Pat and All:    

 

The Healthy Children Project sells a video called  "Skin to Skin in the
First Hour After Birth: Practical Advice for Staff after Vaginal and
Cesarean Birth" that I like because it shows mothers what "staff" should
know and how they should behave towards her and her baby.  This has a way of
upping the mother's confidence level when it comes to keeping her baby with
her, unhandled and un-medicated.  She will not be rushed to "latch" the baby
before the newborn is ready.she knows what the "staff" should know.

 

Another really great one showing the baby's progression towards the first
nursing is called "Breastfeeding.Baby's Choice", again from Health Education
Associates, Inc.  It's pretty wonderful.  The tone and atmosphere are just
lovely.

 

I have no association or interest  with either of the producers of these
videos.  But I show them all the time.  They are relatively inexpensive,
too.all less than $50.
