Hi Tara,
I believe the consensus is that bf is not assoc. with increased risk of
miscarriage. Mom can contact LLL in her area and ask to be put in touch with
area professional liason. There is an extensive medical database in LLL and
she can receive info there.
Most experts say that is her OB is not telling her to avoid all
foreplay/lovemaking/intercourse then she can continue the bf. If she was
wanting the child to wean soon or the child is going that way, she can try
to speed things along.
If she really wants to cont. bf or feels that the child does, then it is
mostly a matter of will she feel guilty or believe she caused the
miscarriage. Tough decision with the dr. advising her that way.
Re psoriasis meds: refer to Tom Hale's latest edition of medications and
mothers milk, or put mom in touch with someone who can give her that info.
Share it with the dr. I believe the meds will be ok. Or the mother herself
can read the info and if she is reassured by it, which I think she would be,
then she might even choose to lie to the dr. and tell him/her that she has
weaned. A sort of distasteful way to go, but I've seen it done.
