Lesley,
Can the mothers breastfeed while at school???
I don't know if you remember my post a while back. I took up the thread that
was going on back there about how fathers can get away with stuff mothers
can't, i.e., at conferences or bringing kids to the office...
I build a word picture for the WIC moms (lots of pregnant teens): if Dad were
to bring his baby to school, everyone would go ga-ga about how wonderful and
responsible he's being. But if mom were to bring the baby to school, there
would be questions like-can't she find a babysitter, why is she so
disorganized, etc. etc. etc.
It's a matter of perception.
Babies have the right to breastfeed, and in NY State there is a civil right
protecting mothers rights to breastfeed their children, regardless....if
mother has the right to be there, she has the right to breastfeed.
Kathy Bruce, do you think I could type the NYState law into my computer and e
mail it to people who are interested? It's about 1 and 1/2 typed pages long.
