Thanks for posting this Pauline.  I found some of the comments very
interesting in relation to the charts.



Protein in human milk - 1.5G while in the formulae listed it ranged from
2.09-2.2.
Then they later state:" An overabundance of protein may lead to
constipation, colic, and dehydration."



They also state:" High levels of minerals may lead to dehydration, bloating,
and renal overload."  While nearly every mineral in their comparison has
higher levels in the formulae.



Can't they see the logic (or lack thereof) in these statements?!



In addition, the article does state that babies fed soy formulae do not show
a reduction in colic over regular formula and says mothers wanting to make
that switch need to be counseled about the relative risks of soy vs regular
formula.



Unfortunately, the bulk of the article spouts the usual "formula is as safe
as breastfeeding" garbage.  Too bad they didn't at least give the
pharmacists some recommendations to support breastfeeding instead of
immediately reinforcing a mother's thinking about formula!
