The new mother's time is so precious in those first post-partum days that
looking at all the stuff to buy on a trolley is just one more interuption.
I don't know exactly what the length of stay is in USA but here it is only
48 hours (not that staying in hospital is necessarily a good thing), and
with visitors all day, recovering from birth, eating, showering and oh yes,
feeding and getting to know the baby, there is little "spare" time.
All these "things" are available elsewhere, and the world doesn't grind to a
halt once the baby is born - the shops are still open , the partner can go
ouy and get something if it is that essential.
Surely bf works without gadgets?

The last hospital I worked in had a great bra lady coming around to fit/sell
maternity bras - but with rapid discharges those days are gone.
Peace and quiet and spending time with the newborn who will be so small for
such a short time .... now that's important.
