You saw the link when this report was published in December 2014, but you
were probably caught up in year-end distractions.

I urge you now to take the time to read the 2014 Lactation Summit Report.

The link below is to the ILCA Lactation Matters blog. The blog itself
offers links to the full Report, the Executive Summary and the Survey. The
Survey is where you can offer your thoughts, anonymously and away from
public view, about best next steps. The blog is where you can share your
ideas in a public forum.

Please, I implore you: Do this thing. Read the report, nd ponder its
implications. Share the link to the ILCA LM blog below widely --
especially on lists or groups of those who are not in the IBCLC field
(yet?); who may be impeded by the very barriers of entry into the IBCLC
profession that this historic Summit sought to examine.

This is a long report, and a heavy topic. So do it in pieces!

Start with the Executive Summary: pages 1-7
Synopsis for the 2014 Lactation Summit; the how-and-why we needed to have
it: pages 8-16
Comments from the U.S./African-American Panel: pages 17-20
Comments from the U.S./Native American Panel: pages 20-21
Comments from the U.S./Hispanic Panel: pages 21-22
Comments from the North and South America Panel [Canada, Mexico, South
America]: pages 22-24
Comments from Asia Pacific Panel [Japan, China, New Zealand, Australia]:
pages 24-26
Comments from the Europe and Russia Panel: pages 26-27
Comments from the Panel rep'g Other Perspectives Crossing Cultural and
Georgraphic Lines [LGBTQI Community, Lay BFg Support Counselors, Remote
Regions of World, Male Lactation Consultants]: pages 27-29
Tips for Allies: pages 29-30
Recommendations and Next Steps; pages 31-35.
If you want to immerse a bit, the best place perhaps even to start is with
the the readings and links offered in he "Pre-summit Reading List" on page
38

Your first reaction may be: "Hey! Where are the comments from [this
country][that organization][my related and supportive group]!?"

That is the very point. Some voices were missed at the very last minute,
because of travel complicaitons. But the 2014 Lactation Summit was an
extraordinary collaborative effort funded by individual donors, groups AND
the three Major IBCLC Organziations in Lactation Land (IBLCE, ILCA and
LEAARC). The Summit was a first step ... a listening launch point.
Progress going forward needs to seek out, and hear, those who were missed,
OR those who have more to say.
