Is anyone on Lactnet familiar with or able to get a copy of the 11th/12th
grade text in the F.L.A.S.H (Family Life and Sexual Health) program from the
Seattle-King County Health Dept? A friend sent me a copy of an article
reviewing the curriculum (from a religious viewpoint, so not relevant here)
but mentioned being especially offended by an alleged reference to
breastfeeding. According to the article, breastfeeding is defined in this
text as sexual behavior between a mother and child, inferring that if your
mom breastfed you, you have already been sexually active.

I haven't seen the text myself, and I don't want to be a rumormonger, so I
promised my friend I'd check it out. Has anyone on this list seen this? Is
it an exaggeration based on the author's religious offense taken at other
parts of the curriculum, or is it really there? If so, it needs to be
corrected!! We work hard to desexualize breasts, and I'd sure hate it to be
true that a health dept is linking sexual activity with breastfeeding. I'm
hoping this article is incorrect. Anyone know?
