Pat, are you speaking of full-blown Addsion's disease or burned-out adrenal
glands that are subclinical but still cause symptoms?

Judging from the fact that she's been on steroids and hormones for her whole
pregnancy, I'm guessing full-blown Addison's Disease. I don't know much
about Addison's except that once steroid therapy is started, it cannot be
stopped without putting the patient's life in jeopardy -- the steroids
basically take over the work that the adrenal glands have stopped doing.

Most doctors do not recognize the subclinical diagnosis as valid -- either
someone has Addison's disease or they are fine. Most of what you will find
online about this (if you haven't looked already) will come from natural
medicine perspectives. I'd be glad to share websites I found helpful.

If you're looking for more about management of subclinical adrenal
insuffiency, I'd be glad to help you, as I suffered with it for a few years
(and have felt much better in the last 6-8 months, thankfully!). While the
adrenal fatigue didn't affect my milk production per se, my breastfeeding
relationships (I was tandem nursing at the time) did take a lot out of me.
I had a very supportive doctor who knew better than to advise me to wean,
but she did mention from time to time that I would get better faster once I
was able to rest more.
