Dear Ersilia,
Thanks for reminding me of Shannon's post on this subject. I remain of the
opinion that since it is known that giving formula for free (al least in
some contexts) contributes to weaning that it is unethical for the TRIGR
study to provide formula free to mothers in this study. I wonder if the
ethics committees involved were made aware of this consideration.
I'd really like to hear what others think however. I'm not in the position
where I am working with new mums on a day to day basis like many of you are.
Do people agree or disagree with my opinion? Would you refer mums to the
study?
