I think you may have a great opportunity here to promote attachment
parenting with these mothers, IF you have the time. If a mom does not
breastfeed, it is so easy to "forget" to hold the baby during feeds, to not
look at the baby, to not give any skin to skin, to ignore infant feeding
cues. The Ohio WIC program, in an effort to promote attachment
parenting to all families teaches all mothers position and latch for
breastfeeding and all mothers how to feed a bottle to promote
attachment. Formula feeding moms aren't the only ones who ever give
their baby a bottle and it needs to be done correctly. Also, the extreme
precautions that one must take preparing and giving formula needs to be
communicated. Some mothers may decide to go ahead and breastfeed if
they realize they should do everything a breastfeeding mom does except
offer the breast and that formula feeding is not risk free or more
convenient than breastfeeding.

Good Luck
