Hi everyone,
I have another comment about what I saw on tonight's evening news.
(Sometimes I think I pay too much attention to these programs.) Anyways
they profiled a new hi-tech treatment for infertility. This poor couple has
had 4 failed in vitro fertilizations and she received an experimental
treatment called a cytoplasmic transfer. They conceived and they have a
beautiful healthy looking baby girl.
They obviously wanted a baby very much and I am sure that they love and
cherish her. But guess what one of the last scenes that they showed was? I
was sitting there predicted to see her being bottle fed and I was not
disappointed. Dad was proudly feeding her a bottle. Am I being sarcastic?
One can only hope that she was being fed expressed breastmilk. It just goes
to show us how important our messages to the public are. We still have lots
of work as breastfeeding promoters and supporters and more that ever we
need each other.
                Keep up the good work,
                        Jodi Smart, RN IBCLC
