I am going to visit a woman tomorrow who is pumping for a cleft palate baby,
the surgeon is not a proponent of any direct feeding. She has been pumping
since she left the hospital and her supply is not adequate. She was
diagnosed and treated for endometritis in the hospital. I checked the
archives, Dr. Jack and Lawrence and Riordan and Auerbach without finding
anything about milk supply and the infection. Does anyone have any
information about this. What would help with supply aside from increased
pumping, some breast compression, and galactagogues?
She is committed to feeding the baby a full supply, would like to get him to
breast at some point. He will have lip surgery in February and the palate
surgery about six months after that. The baby was born November 17th.
Thanks,
