Dear Michele,
My whole family is filled with low thyroids!  The over all experience is 
that although it takes 4-6 weeks for the levels to change levels in the 
blood, it takes days to feel better.  I would be as encouraging as 
possible with this mother that now that she is taking her medication her 
situation should improve.  You also might want to make sure she is not 
taking fenugreek which can lower thyroid levels.  Fenugreek is the go to 
herb here in Michigan and a high proportion of my moms have thyroid 
problems so it can be counter productive.
