Hello Wise Ones,

I have a formula question that I hope someone can answer. In amino acid based formulas such as Elacare or Neocate what source are the amino acids derived from? Cow's milk? Soy? Some other mysterious source??? Or nothing at all? Where do they come from? I read on pg. 760 of "Nutrition in pediatrics: basic science, clinical applications" (on google books) that the lipids are derived from coconut, safflower &/or soy oil, the carbohydrates from corn syrup solids (yum!) or maltodextrin (double yum), but then it just refers to the amino acids as "free amino acids". Can anyone give me any additional insight?

ALSO, I recall Nikki mentioning high levels of MSG in "hypoallergenic" formula. Does anyone have a reference for that, something I could show to parents?
