Hello ladies and gentlemen -

A quick intro and then my question. I am the mother of a 14 month old
breastfed boy, a LLL Leader Applicant (sorry I can't remember if this is
OK here or not), an active member of the Yamhill County (Oregon)
Breastfeeding Task Force, a Teen Parent mentor, and a vocal
breastfeeding mother/advocate known to discuss BFing in the local
highschool. I am hoping to expand this BFing advocacy program to the
all the teen parent programs/high school health classes in the county.
I've been a LACTNET lurker for a number of months now.

Today one of my local LLL Leaders asked me to speak with another mom (as
a breastfeeding mom/peer) about weaning her child while combating her
kidney stones (KS). I was asked to do this because I recently had KS
myself. I stayed in the hospital with my baby and didn't wean for a
moment. Wasn't even asked to (I think they may have been afraid to ask
me).

The mother has kidney stones and has been prescribed nitrofurmac. She
has been asked to wean for two (2) weeks. When I speak with her I would
like to offer her some info about/alternatives to weaning for two
weeks. Can anyone give me some information about this drug.

Thanks in advance for your help.
