Oh wise ones.....I am an OB nurse in a small community hospital and I'm
also the resident Boob Lady.  We recently had a patient (gr 1) , who had
been blinded at the age of 9 years by Stevens-Johnson Syndrome.  She also
had some scarring in her esophagus, for which she would occasionally have a
dilatation procedure..  She and her baby got off to a good breastfeeding
start, but during my followup phone call, she remarked that she could not
hear the baby swallowing well on the left breast, even with a painless
latch, and good effort.  Her question to me was, "Could the
Stevens-Johnsons have caused scarring in the breast, enough to cause a
decreased supply?"  She did not feel engorged on that side.  She was
relieved to hear that she could make enough milk for her baby from one
breast, but the question still haunts me, since I had no answer for her.
Any ideas or experiences?  Thanks
