        This is from another text that I have personal knowledge of:

        Permethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid used to treat lice, mites, and
fleas.  Permethrin absorption through the skin following application of a 5%
cream is reported to be less than 2%.  Permethrin is rapidly metabolized by
serum enzymes to inactive metabolites and rapidly excreted in the urine.
Overt toxicity is very low.  It is not known if permethrin is secreted into
milk.  In spite of its rapid metabolism,  some residuals are sequestered in
fat tissue.  Until more is known,  recommend a brief cessation of
breastfeeding(24hrs) following use.

Now that I think of it,  the latter statement is somewhat optional.
