Well--I did my presentation to the OB docs on Tuesday. I was actually given 30
minutes which was more than I had expected. I covered my whole list of topics!
The 7 docs who attended were respectful and asked many questions. I haven't
heard any feedback except from two colleagues who were in attendance, but I
think it went well.

I covered the new AAP guidelines, focusing on the parts that pertain to
delivery. I showed the Righard film on First attachment (they did NOT like the
film--felt that it was too strong of a message with flaws that it presented a
biased view. I told them that I use it as a springboard for opening discussion
on pain management. I also touched on Mastitis and Yeast.

I also (nicely) told them that some of them had lost patients due to their
attitudes about breastfeeding, and that they should consider the mother's
wishes when making medication decisions, etc.

I dressed up in a nice suit and stood while speaking. I spoke in an assured
manner knowing that I knew what I was talking about. I spoke to them as one
professional to another, but with the sense that I was the expert. It was
great!! I'm almost ready to offer my services to the local med school!! (I
already teach a class to all of the nursing students that come onto our unit).

Many thanks to all of the advice and support that you have sent to me about
this talk. It was all much appreciated.
