More from an experienced-student point of view than a lactivist point of
view: what the student needs to do to get a reluctant teacher on side is
to link the thesis very very clearly back to the major themes in the
coursework. No subtlety required; use all the buzzwords, and link to the
themes explicitly and repeatedly.
