Hi everyone. I'm reaaly keen to get your wisdom on this. I'm posting this about my neice and I'm quite concerned. She got a nasty nout of mastitis: she woke up Friday with a sore breast, and pains and aches all over, went to GP, took abs and has been doing the usual self-help treatment. Feverish all day Sat. Today she is no longer feverish, but the hard lump on her breast is barely shifting. After she fed baby it was still there. Then pumped (between 1 and 2 oz!); the lump had barely softened.

Why is the lump not shifting? With heat and massage I would have thought it would go.

I'm concerned about breast abscess, but she is feeling much better in herself today.

What can she do to shift the lump? The baby is about 8 weeks old.

Eithne
