I agree that the photo is unfortunate, and the author seems to
have "borrowed" heavily from Sandra Steingraber's book "Having Faith"
(which is excellent; Steingraber is a firmly pro-breastfeeding ecologist
who passed around a jar of her own expressed milk while testifying at a
U.N. session on persistent organic pollutants). However, I don't think the
article is propaganda. We may not like to admit it, but every human on
earth has been polluted with various toxins -- even people who live
hundreds of miles away from the sources -- and those toxins are
concentrated in breastmilk.

I'm sure there are some women who will misinterpret this information as an
excuse not to breastfeed (since they already use much flimsier excuses!).
But I think we owe it to future generations to talk about this problem
more openly; then maybe people will be shocked into taking better care of
our planet. We can also point out, "Look what industry has done to
innocent people everywhere. Why would you trust an industry-created-and-
packaged food for your baby?"
