Failure to sleep can be a sign of anxiety from a severe postpartum
depression. Benadryl was prescribed for one mom in my practice to allow
her to get some sleep until the antidepressents started working. She
ultimately did well.

This baby could be eating more often than necessary due to a tummy-ache
from mom's oversupply. He could also be making noises if he's
swallowing poorly and getting some milk "down the wrong pipe" due to
mom's fast flow. I'd work on her oversupply, as well as referring her
to a good psychiatrist who is knowlegable about medications and
breastfeeding.
