Having a bit of crow here -

I read the first paragraph in which it appeared he was agreeing with
them. He has come up many times in the past as a topic of contention on
a couple of lists I am on, and it was noted at some point - I think I
recall it being on lactnet - but I could be mistaken - that he was paid
by the formula companies.

I did go back and read further - and it sounds as though he has changed
his tune from what he USED to recommend so perhaps these commercial
endorsements have eroded or been given less influence than they were a
couple of years ago. If so - I am thrilled! There are a lot of mothers
out there who rely on the websites carrying his advice for reference.
