Yes, I often find pumping after feeding will help increase milk supply, even if baby is Breastfeeding "well".  If mom can find any milk baby leaves in the breast and remove it with a pump it tells the to make more.  A young baby often falls asleep before really draining well, and an older baby often quits trying when the flow slows too much.

It is certainly not the ONLY option, but is one tool in the box.
