I am signing off Lactnet for a bit (send me anything you think I need to
know!) becuase I'm away. However before I go I want to strongly recommend
that anyone who can makes an effort to hear Marilyn Waring speak on her
tour October/November 1998. Here are details:

21 - 31 October 1998
Mid West Tour (organised by Michigan University)
Contact is Gail Campana E-mail: <[log in to unmask]>

1 - 6 November 1998
Henrietta Harvey Distinguished Lecturers Event
Memorial University of Newfoundland (in St. John's)
Contact is Phyllis Artiss E-mail: <[log in to unmask]

Book Publisher is Toronto University Press
Contact is Melissa Pitts E Mail: <[log in to unmask]>

Dr. Waring is fully committed during her time in North America - she is not
able to extend her schedue or speak to other groups "in the area"...but
people
could certainly go along to any of the public addresses she will be giving
for either Michigan University or Newfoundland.

This woman is a marvel. If you haven't read her books you should. Her
analysis of teh economic value of breastfeeding has been very influential,
but her reach of course goes way beyond that. She is inspiring and funny
and commonsense. Former NZ MP at an incredible age... I haven't time to go
on, but you will be sorry if you have a chance and don't go, then talk to
someone who did!
