I am interested in starting an outpatient lactation center at my community hospital. In searching the LACTNET archives, there is very little information. Mainly the posts are from people like myself who request information and ask for personal replies.
The bottom line is: the hospital needs financial data that the center can break even or make a profit or the center will not open.
I am asking for any information on lacation centers: financial data, business plan information, how much inventory, support staff, tax info, etc. Any stories on how others were able to open their centers would also be helpful. If I can learn from the mistakes of others, I would appreciate a list of do's and don'ts. Also, if there is anyone willing to mentor me in achieving my dream of a lactation center, this would be ideal.
I would like to thank those that have already heped me in my information gathering, and thank the fellow lactnutters who are also willing to share.

Warmly,
Tracey Miller, RNC, MSN, IBCLC
